Presbyterian Senior Care (HMO) and Presbyterian MediCare PPO | Summer 2021 | Your Story

Letter from Brandon Fryar, President, Presbyterian Health Plan For the past year and a half, we’ve been going through an unprecedented time—a time filled with fear, anxiety, and concern. But when I got my COVID-19 vaccine, I truly felt hopeful once again. I imagine so many of you also felt that sense of hope. The hope brought through the vaccine allowed me to spend time reflecting on what the pandemic taught me. As a native New Mexican, I have always believed in the deep-rooted value of community. I’ve seen that many hands make light work and that when New Mexicans are unified in purpose, there is nothing we can’t accomplish together. We experienced this power of community in masking up to protect each other and those we love—helping us keep COVID-19 cases down for most of the pandemic. That same New Mexican heart demonstrated itself in the floods of cards and meals delivered to our courageous healthcare workers who were saving lives every day. We saw the community’s resolve in defeating COVID-19 through the willingness to get vaccinated as quickly as possible. When New Mexicans unite with determination and commitment— there is nothing we can’t do. At Presbyterian Health Plan, our own team of 2,000 New Mexicans brought that same resolve to helping in their respective communities. From bringing iPads to members’ homes so they could have a Virtual Visit with their provider to providing free meals or delivering COVID-19 vaccines directly to homebound members— our Presbyterian Health Plan team was there to help. I know our team will bring that same spirit with us as we move forward together as a community. We are honored to serve you as a Presbyterian Health Plan member and as a fellow New Mexican.
